Risks & Delays: What You Should Know
Sailing and arrival dates are estimates, not guarantees. Delays usually trace back to the monsoon and rough seas, a vessel schedule changed by the operator, congestion at the port, or incomplete documents holding up customs clearance.
You can cut that exposure down: book early around festive peaks, get the bank release letter ready in advance if the vehicle is still under a loan, and declare accessories or modifications before loading. Our rates are port-to-port and do not include Marine Insurance — Marine Insurance is what covers the value of your vehicle while it is in transit. Without it, the risk stays with the vehicle owner.
Questions transport operators ask.
Which regions can I ship a lorry to?
Three: Sabah, through Sepanggar (Kota Kinabalu), Sandakan or Tawau; Sarawak, through Pending (Kuching), Bintulu, Sibu or Miri; and the return leg from Sabah or Sarawak back to Port Klang, Penang or Pasir Gudang in Peninsular Malaysia.
What size of lorry can you carry?
From 1-Ton units such as the Hino or Fuso Canter right through to 7-Ton and above, tipper trucks and prime movers. Pick your destination above for the full tariff and schedule that applies to your class.
Who drives the lorry onto the vessel?
A GDL-licensed jockey from our team. GDL is the vocational goods-vehicle driving licence class issued by JPJ, so the driver handling your unit at the quayside is licensed for that class of vehicle.
How long does the crossing take?
Plan on 10–14 days end to end — that window covers handover, documentation, the sea leg itself and release at the destination port, not just the time the vessel spends at sea.
Is Marine Insurance included in the rate?
No. Quoted rates are port-to-port and exclude Marine Insurance. The premium is worked out from your lorry’s own Insured Value, so it cannot be folded into a flat freight figure, and it is confirmed together with your quote.
